As Zoe pointed out, whole group instruction can be a 'giant problem'. In this teacher-directed environment,    distractions occur more frequently and 'buy-in' from individuals is reduced.

Brigitte expressed the attitude often embraced by students who understand the difference between teacher-driven 'spoonfeeding' and the joy of self-directed learning. The culture of choice develops very quickly once students experience it. See 'Readiness' for ideas on creating that culture.
